In late 2007 the State of Hawaii Department of Defense released a complete floor renovation package for the Aviation Support Facility No.2. Synthetics International and its local partner, Applied Surfacing Technology were ready to take on the challenge.

A total of 15,000 square feet of hanger and adjacent interior floor area was to be updated with a new NeoGuard floor coating system. The renovation package included a high performance moisture vapor treatment to guarantee the new floor coating system adhesion to the substrate during the long rain periods in Hilo,Hawaii.

During our research into the local weather and historic conditions, our office realized Hilo,Hawaii is beautiful during the summer months, has a nearby active Volcano and has survived a past tsunami devastation.
This was not a normal everyday application. A sudden uncontrollable event produced by natural forces may cause increased moisture levels, concrete cracking and slab shifting after the installation.

In the summer months of 2008, Applied Surfacing Technology completed the floor coating renovation.  We were pleased to be a part of the renovation and our Synthetic30 treatment maintains its durability and moisture tolerance beneath multi-million dollar aircraft.

Visitors and local residents leaving the Hilo Airport every day pass by this Synthetics International reference without even knowing it!
